Garmin rolls out improved health monitoring and user experience with latest software updates
Users can expect enhanced health monitoring, safety and expanded activity profiles with improved accuracy and user experience
Singapore, 26 July 2022 – Garmin today announced the latest software update across a wide range of products that delivers the latest user upgrades to the health monitoring, safety features, expanded activity profiles and optimized user experience. Backed with Garmin’s proprietary Health Science data including advanced sleep monitoring, intensity minutes and fitness age, the software update will deliver an expanded and enhanced list of sports activities, supporting more customer needs for varying active lifestyles and sports preferences, and an added a slew of updates to the user experience for greater day-to-day usability.
Garmin’s health data has the Firstbeat Analytics engine built into the devices to integrate that technology into advanced analytics for wellness and performance, users are able seamlessly utilize the data on their wrist to keep closer tabs on their health, wellness and performance. With a comprehensive suite of data at their fingertips, users can pick up on their own health trends, improve their training, and most importantly, understand their body and health better.

Descent Mk2 Series: v14.20
- Added new Apnea fields for surface and in-dive screens and Completely reworked the Apnea and Apnea Hunt apps: The in-dive screen and up to 5 surface screens are now customizable. The data screens have been reset for these two apps. Added the ability to view hang time, ascent, and descent statistics for Apnea dives in the dive log.
- Added a Gas Calculator tool to the Dive Planning app
- Added a warning to the NDL calculator in the Dive Planning app when the planned depth exceeds the MOD of the breathing gas
- Added Reference Point - Reference Point provides simple bearing and distance information to saved locations, dive sites, and your previous dive’s entry and exit locations (if available).
- Improved Apnea apps to continue to search for the first GPS entry location throughout the dive session.
- Added the ability to change the last decompression stop depth. You can now choose between 10/15/20 feet or 3/4.5/6 meters. This does not impact safety stops. This feature is also available in the Plan Dive app.
- Added the ability to access the main menu and the controls menu while on the dive screens, pre-dive.
- Added a new page to the Surface Interval widget to allow seeing detailed no-fly information, including when the timer will expire.
- Added the Surface Gradient Factor field as an option for gas dives.
- Improved the No-fly time calculation to follow DAN’s most recent guidance:
- Single-day no-deco dive is 12 hours.
- Repetitive or multi-day no-deco dive is 18 hours.
- Decompression dive is 24 hours.
- Only dives deeper than 15 feet and longer than 3 minutes trigger no-fly restrictions.
- Missed decompression or gauge mode: 48 hours, as before. You can change back to the previous flat 24-hour timer by using the Dive Setup > No Fly setting.
- SubWave Upgrade- Added a second page to the Subwave network screen, showing approximate depths of other divers in the network.
- Added a simple stopwatch to the Apnea/Apnea Hunt surface loop
- Added a “Pop-up” setting for dive depth and time alerts. Dive alerts with this setting off will tone/vibe and blink the depth or time field, but won’t show the normal popup. New alerts for Apnea/Apnea Hunt will default this setting to Off. Existing alerts, and new alerts for the other dive apps, will default this setting On.
- Dive logs can now be deleted like other activities. Deleting a dive may cause dive numbers to get out of sync until the next sync with Connect.
- Added support for searching Dive POI waypoints by name.
- Pulled in changes from fenix 6X/S Pro through version 20.50.
